As well as exploring these local gardens opening exclusively for
the festival, visitors are free to wander through Whitfield’s own
lovely gardens and magnificent parkland during the
weekend.

Set in a secluded valley in the spectacular Black Mountains, walled gardens, an Islamic garden, a knot garden and an orchard lead up to 25 acres of landscaped woods with a green theatre, a ruined village and a large dry stone turtle. Wonderful views wherever you look and a lake in the shape of a whale.

Blending the wild and tame, a six and a half acre garden described by Sarah Price as ‘absolutely enchanting, of the place and so imaginative’. Sitting within a landscape of mature forest at 1200ft in the Black Mountains, there are heritage vegetables, a fruit garden, a wildlife pond, perennial borders and a riverside walk.

With far-reaching views over the Herefordshire countryside, this four acre garden has been created since 2007. Constantly changing plantsman's garden stocked with unusual perennials and roses, together with woodland borders, gazebo, vegetable parterre, glasshouse and natural pond.

25 acre garden, much of it in the picturesque landscape style. Herbaceous borders and working vegetable garden providing year round produce for the house. Sweet peas, roses and clematis grown through the vegetable plots. Walled garden with newly created perennial borders.

A south facing four acre garden started from scratch in 2013 and very much still in development. Mixed roses and perennials below house merging into 2 acre wild flower meadow with meandering paths. Wild life pond, stream, and 100 newly planted trees. A large grass sculpture and viewing mound created from excess rubble and sub soil. A natural garden where self seeding is encouraged.

A contemporary garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith. Planted on 2 levels, a clever collection of mass-planted perennials and grasses of different heights, textures and colour give year round interest. The sea of grasses in the upper walled garden are a highlight. Views of the new pond and valley walk.

Perched on a hill, the garden looks S and W over miles of unspoilt countryside. Woodland garden, 5 acre wild flower meadow, perry pear orchard and in the valley below a lake, stream and arboretum. The extensive borders are planted with drifts of perennials in the modern romantic style. Created from scratch in 1999 with the help of Tom Stuart Smith.
