Gardens in the Wild: 20/21 June 2015 Festival

A celebration of Herefordshire landscape and gardens

This is our second festival celebrating the qualities that make the gardens and landscape of Herefordshire so special.
The region is one of great contrasts: mountains and moorland, sheep pasture and wooded river valleys, small villages
and castles exist side by side. The theme of the festival is to explore the conflict between the natural and the contrived,
control and freedom, wild beauty and containment in the garden and the surrounding landscape.

Centred at Stagg Meadow, Titley HR5 3RL, the festival talks will be from nationally acclaimed garden writers, designers and plantsmen: Alys Fowler, Helena Attlee, James Hitchmough, Derry Watkins, Timothy Walker, Tim Richardson and Anna Pavord. These will take place in the village hall next to the Meadow.
In the meadow there will be stalls selling plants, crafts and freshly prepared, locally sourced food as well as demonstrations and events for children.

Gardens nearby will be open in the afternoon, including several private gems not usually open to the public.  Road maps and cycle routes will be provided.

There will be walks in wild flower meadows managed by Herefordshire Nature Trust and tours of the woods and historic environs of Titley.

Birders can take an early morning guided stroll up Wapley Hill.  On Saturday evening, come to the great Moccas deer park and walk the drives

laid down by Capablility Brown and Humphrey Repton. There will be a hog roast at the park afterwards.

Events can be booked online. This year we have a rover ticket for our gardens that can be bought on line in advance under 'Events'.

Or entrance fees to an individual garden can be paid at the gate. Entry to Stagg meadow is free. Parking is £3.
